Sheik Mohammed Bin Obaid Al-Maktoum Senior High School (SHS) has been inaugurated at Yendi in the Northern Region to provide quality second cycle education for students in the area.
Sheik Mohammed Bin Obaid Al-Maktoum SHS, which has been established through the support of Al-Maktoum Foundation based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, runs three programmes including Science, General Arts and Home Economics.
Mr Abdul Samed Mustapha Mustak, Headmaster of the School, who addressed the inauguration at Yendi on Sunday, said the school would pursue academic excellence as well as ensure that students were fluent in Arabic.
Mr Mustak said the school began operations during the 2016/2017 academic year adding it currently had 60 students comprising 35 males and 25 females.He assured that the school would enforce the code of conduct prescribed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to promote discipline.
Alhaji Mohammed Haroun, Northern Regional Director of GES commended Al-Maktoum Foundation for complementing the efforts of the government to provide access to education in the country.
Alhaji Haroun emphasized the need for school authorities to maintain discipline at the school to promote academic excellence. Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Andani, Regent of Dagbon, whose speech was read on his behalf, advised school authorities to engage qualified staff to ensure excellent academic exercise.
