Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to join the exodus of players planning to leave Arsenal this summer with sources telling ESPN FC that the England midfielder is now determined to reignite his career away from the Emirates Stadium.
The 23-year-old, whose contract expires in June 2018, completed the full 90 minutes of Arsenal's 5-1 Champions League round-of-16 second-leg defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening and also played the whole of Saturday's 3-1 loss at Liverpool.
But despite being given a more prominent role in Arsene Wenger's team in recent weeks, sources have told ESPN FC that Oxlade-Chamberlain now sees his future elsewhere and believes that the anticipated summer exits of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are a sign of the club's failure to display the ambition required to transform Arsenal into serious challengers for the Premier League title and Champions League success.
Tuesday's defeat against Bayern completed a 10-2 aggregate loss against the German champions and raised further doubts over the future of manager Arsene Wenger, whose current contract expires at the end of the season.
But sources have told ESPN FC that Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of a number of established players at Arsenal, including Sanchez and Ozil, who have already decided on their futures, regardless of whether Wenger stays or goes.
The uncertainty over Wenger's future has exacerbated concerns over Sanchez and Ozil's commitment to the club, with both players so far rejecting attempts to secure them to new long-term contracts.
Arsenal's failure to move quickly to keep Sanchez and Ozil has now begun to influence the mindset of their teammates, however, with Oxlade-Chamberlain determined to follow them out of the club at the end of the season.
Midfielder Jack Wilshere and full-back Kieran Gibbs, both Arsenal academy products, will also see their current contracts expire in 2018 and neither has opened talks over a new deal yet.
A £12 million signing from Southampton in August 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain has seen Arsenal win just two FA Cups during his time at the club.
Throughout his time at the Emirates, Arsenal have failed to progress beyond the round of 16 in the Champions League and now face a battle to qualify for next season's competition, with the defeat at Anfield seeing the club drop to fifth in the Premier League.
Arsenal face non-league Lincoln City at home in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Saturday amid the backdrop of fan protests against Wenger and majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke.
