Chelsea have narrowed down their hunt for a new striker to Arsenal's Olivier Giroud or Tottenham's Fernando Llorente, sources have told ESPN FC.
Arsenal striker Giroud is Chelsea's No. 1 target as they look to strengthen their attack before Wednesday's transfer deadline, but Llorente has now emerged an alternative to the Frenchman.
Chelsea could turn to Llorente just five months after he turned them down to join Spurs if they can't land Arsenal's Giroud, sources said.
Giroud is expected to leave Arsenal once they finalise a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Chelsea are hopeful their London rivals will agree to sell Giroud to them.
Chelsea have been searching for a new striker throughout this month's transfer window, but have so far been unable to land their targets.
The likes of Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Christian Benteke and Edin Dzeko have all been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge this month, but any deal has failed to materialise.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in a target man forward this month and the Italian is a fan of Spain international Llorente, having worked with him at former club Juventus.
Chelsea tried to sign Llorente last January from Swansea, but the Welsh club rejected their overtures as they needed the striker to help them avoid relegation.
The Blues tried again to sign Llorente in the summer, but were beaten to his signature by London rivals Tottenham in a shock swoop on transfer deadline day.
However, things have not worked out as planned for Llorente following his move to Tottenham with the 32-year-old making just one start in the Premier League so far this season.
Llorente has made 23 appearances in all competitions, but only seven of those have been as a starter and he has only scored two goals.
But it remains to be seen if Arsenal or Tottenham would consider letting Giroud or Llorente leave to join a top-four rival in Chelsea.
