Manchester City forward Leroy Sane scored his first international goal as Germany comfortably beat Russia in an international friendly in Leipzig.
Sane was left out of the squad for the 2018 World Cup as Joachim Low's side, winners in 2014, failed to make it out of the group phase.
But the 22-year-old scored after eight minutes from Serge Gnabry's cross.
Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger set up Niklas Sule for the second before Gnabry sealed the win with an 18-yard strike.
Low fielded a young starting 11, which included only two players over 25, and left the experienced Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller on the bench. Fellow World Cup winner Jerome Boateng was not called up and Toni Kroos was given a break.
It was only the fourth win in 14 matches for Germany, who will be relegated from the top tier of the Nations League if the Netherlands beat France in Rotterdam on Friday.
If France win then Germany would still need to beat the Dutch in their last Nations League tie on Monday, in a match played at Schalke's Veltins Arena, to avoid finishing bottom of Group A1 and dropping into the second tier.
