Accra Technical University (ATU), held the second edition of its inter-hall games, as students from various halls engaged in series of sporting activities.
The event, which begun last Thursday, saw four halls (halls one, two,three and four) compete in athletics, volleyball, basketball, Taekwondo handball, table tennis, tennis, chess, scrabble among others.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Thursday, Prof. Edumund Ameko, Vice Chancellor of ATU, said this year's games would help prepare the schools athletes for Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) games which will hosted by ATU in February next year.
He urged students to give up their best as they target to lift high the name of the University through sports.
He was hopeful that, next year's competition would be bigger as it would be organized on a larger scale.
Mr. Micheal Addo, Dean of Students, urged the students to compete in the spirit of sportsmanship in showcasing their talents as it will propel them to greater heights in their respective endeavours.
“This is an opportunity to showcase your talents especially for athletes who wish to do sports at the highest level and must be approached with all seriousness," he stated.
Defending Champions, Hall Four have begun their defence very well as they target to maintain the bragging rights but the other halls are putting out a very stern conpetition to unseat the champions.
The closing ceremony of the games will be held on November 28, 2018 with thriving athletes awarded laurels with the overall winner crowned.
