Mercy Quarcoo Tagoe, head coach of the Women’s Senior National team, the Black Queens, has pruned down her 30-member squad to 25, as they prepare for the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Women Zone B Competition.
Kumasi Sports Academy duo Horlali Attivor, El-Shaddai Acheampong, Joyce Antwiwaa Fenteng from Ashtown Ladies, Fabulous Ladies’ Rabi Musa and Samira Abdul-Rahman, who plays for Pearlpia Ladies, were the players, who failed to make the cut.
Coach Tagoe is expected to drop four more players from the team, to arrive at her 21-member squad for tourney, which starts from May 8-18.
Ghana have been drawn in Group B, together with Mali, Nigeria, and Guinea, whilst the host nation Cote d’Ivoire is scheduled to play in Group A, alongside Benin and Senegal.
Tagoe’s charges were crowned the champions of the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B Women’s tournament in 2018 after beating hosts Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in the final.
