The Technical team of Ghana Black Stars, headed by Coach Kwesi Appiah and his charges will today, Monday, commence preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held in Egypt.
The biggest continental competition billed for June 21-July 19, would see Ghana battle for coveted trophy that has eluded the country for over three decades.
The contingent left Ghana over the weekend in two batches to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they would be camping for the next three weeks before emplaning to Egypt for the biennial competition.
The first team left on Saturday evening while the last and final batch left on Sunday evening and were expected to arrive today.
Coach Appiah would hold his first training session later today as he begins to assess his players before he selects his final squad out of 29 to 23 for the tournament.
Whiles in Abu Dhabi, the Black Stars would face Namibia in an international friendly on Sunday, June 9, before playing South Africa five days after for the second game to fine-tune preparations for the tourney.
Ghana is expected to arrive in Egypt for the tournament on June 20 and would open her campaign against Benin five days after at the Ismailia Stadium.
Ghana is housed in Group F against defending Champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau.
