The match between Dreams FC and Asante Kotoko is undoubtedly the top liner for Match Day one of the Premier League. The encounter which comes off on Saturday at the Accra Sports stadium pits two of the competitions best teams against each other.

Dreams FC has been moved to the Accra Sports Stadium following their inability to meet the Club Licensing requirement to enable them to play at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu.

The Still Believe Club have strengthened their squad with acquisition of Ghanaian International and AFCON U-20 Best player Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and former Asante Kotoko defender Habib Mohammed.

Dreams FC will aim for their first win against Asante Kotoko having fallen three-times to the Porcupine Warriors at home in since their promotion into the top flight. The Still Believe lads’ last victory came at the Theatre of Dreams in 2018 courtesy a late strike from George Dwubeng.

In the last five meetings between the two clubs in the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko has recorded four wins while Dreams FC has only won once.

The Porcupine Warriors did the double over Dreams FC last season, beating them 3-1 at home and 1-0 away.

Dreams FC will go into the match without Head Coach Vladislav Viric who is still serving a five match ban from last season.

Asante Kotoko have made changes to their technical team – bringing in former WAFA and Ebusua Dwarfs trainer Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum to replace Mariano Barreto.

Prosper Ogum guided WAFA to a third-place finish in the 2020-21 season and will be looking to build on that at Asante Kotoko

The match is scheduled for 3pm kick off at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

In other matches Champions Accra Hearts will open their title defence on against Legon Cities on Sunday. The Phobians won it all last season – picking their first League title in 12 years and first FA Cup crown in 21 years.

Accra Hearts of Oak head into the game in an unstable mind set as their ego was badly bruised last weekend in Morocco in the Champions League. Samuel Boadu’s side were humiliated 6-1 by Wydad Casablanca to exit the competition. That notwithstanding, Hearts of Oak have a competent squad to compete for the title this season.

They have beefed up with the signing of Kofi Kordzi, Enoch Asubonteng, Salim Adams, Suraj Musah, Agyenim Boateng and Gladson Awako. For Legon Cities this game gives them the platform to announce their young squad to the football fans after enduring a topsy-turvy campaign last term.

The East Legon based club escaped relegation on the final day of the 2020/21 season – changed three coaches and made a number of marquee signings who made no major impact in the season.

Maxwell Konadu has recruited a young and dynamic squad who have the capacity to trouble Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

The match will kick off at 3pm on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
