The 2025 edition of the Bankers Football League (BFL) is beginning to take shape after an action-packed Week 2 saw GCB Bank and UMB Bank maintain their perfect starts to the season with vital wins.

Matches were played simultaneously at two venues in Accra—the McDan La Town Park and the St. Thomas Aquinas School Park—with 16 teams in action showcasing grit, flair, and tactical discipline as they vied for early dominance.

At the top of the table, GCB Bank extended their winning streak with a commanding 2-0 victory over Republic Bank, solidifying their position at the summit with a superior goal difference of +4. They are joined on six points by UMB Bank, who edged CBG 1-0 in a tightly contested clash.

ABSA Bank and Access Bank also maintained their unbeaten records with wins over Societe Generale and NIB respectively. ABSA impressed with a 3-1 triumph while Access Bank dug deep to beat NIB 2-1, placing both sides firmly in the top four with six points apiece.

One of the standout matches of the weekend was at the St. Thomas Aquinas Park where CAL Bank fought off a spirited Stanbic Bank side to clinch a dramatic 3-2 victory. Despite the result, CAL Bank sits in mid-table due to a neutral goal difference, while Stanbic Bank finds itself rooted at the bottom with zero points and a -4 goal difference.

Elsewhere, GTBank bounced back from a Week 1 setback with a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Zenith Bank. Meanwhile, Ecobank continued their solid form, narrowly beating Omni-BSIC 1-0 to collect their second win of the campaign, putting them in fifth with four points.

The weekend also witnessed a gritty 1-1 stalemate between Bank of Ghana (BoG) and UBA, with BoG picking up their first point of the season, although they have played just one game.

With the top four teams all locked on six points, separated only by goal difference, competition remains fierce as clubs begin to find their rhythm. GCB Bank, UMB, ABSA, and Access Bank currently lead the charge, but the table remains fluid with plenty of matches still to play.

On the other end, Societe Generale, Republic Bank, and Stanbic Bank are still in search of their first points of the campaign, while First Bank, having played just one match, will look to make their presence felt in Week 3.
