Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has stated that the state of sports infrastructure in the country is not good per his assessment of the situation.
He said this in a wide ranging interview on the Citi Breakfast Show where he slammed critics of his decision to release the budget for the Black Stars two days before Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
The Minister toured sports facilities including the Borteyman Complex, Baba Yara Stadium and Youth Resource Centre at Nyinahin recently and delivered his assessment of the situation by stating,
“Well, it [the current state of sports infrastructure] is not good. I am not impressed with availability of infrastructure. We are looking to having a new stadium…around our Borteyman space because we want to elevate that whole place to like a sports city, a sports village.”

“It’s [building the stadium in President John Mahama’s first term] is doable. We want to do a minimum of 50,000” he said.
