The queens of African hockey are ready to defend their throne as Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) Royal Ladies march into Harare in three months, determined to extend their dominance and complete a historic treble when they defend their Hockey Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) crown.
The African Hockey Federation (AfHF) has confirmed St John’s College in the Zimbabwean capital as the host venue of the 36th men’s and 27th women’s editions of the continent’s flagship club hockey competition from January 24–31, 2026.
It promises to be a grand stage for the reigning queens of African hockey to chase an unprecedented third straight continental title — and a record-extending sixth overall.
The Royal Ladies have been untouchable on both the domestic and continental fronts. They sealed another flawless campaign in the 2025 Sapholda Greater Accra Hockey League, winning all ten fixtures to reaffirm their stranglehold on Ghanaian women’s hockey.
Their dominance was further underlined earlier this year in Ismailia, Egypt, where they swept aside all challengers to clinch their fifth African crown and second back-to-back triumph.
Now, they return to the continental stage as the team to beat, with a chance to make it a golden double for GRA when their male counterparts, the GRA Men, also feature among Ghana’s representatives in the men’s competition.
They will be joined by Exchequers, who narrowly retained their Sapholda League title over GRA on goal difference, despite being on the wrong end of a stunning 10-0 aggregate drubbing in their head-to-head clashes.
Army Ladies, the women’s league runners-up, will also fly Ghana’s flag in Harare, giving the country one of its strongest-ever contingents at the Club Championship.
Royal Ladies’ status as defending champions allows Ghana to field a third women’s team at the tournament.
However, financial constraints could rule out Police Ladies, who finished third domestically, from taking up that slot due to the high cost of participation and the low likelihood of making a deep run at that elite level.
