Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly no longer interested in a deal to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahim Konate in 2026.
The French international was heavily connected to the Spanish club after dominating the 2024-2025 season that had Liverpool win the English Premier League title.
However, a sharp downturn in form and performance has apparently led Xabi Alonso’s team to walk away from the negotiating table.
According to The Athletic, Konate was on a shortlist of candidates for Real Madrid to address its central backline that has been blighted with injuries.
The news outlet added that Konate is discussing a new deal proposal with Liverpool but nothing has been finalized yet as the Reds continue to struggle to regain the kind of form that had them win the league in a decisive way.

Arne Slot’s team have been on a terrible run since the early part of this season and at the time of writing, have just a win in seven league outings.

Konate was at fault for the fourth goal Liverpool conceded in a 4-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League in midweek further drawing criticism. The 26 year old has a goal in five in the competition and has made 12 appearances in the league this season.
