Dr Owusu Achaw Duah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso-South, was on Tuesday elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate of the constituency by popular acclamation in an election held at Offinso.
In all, 42 delegates took part in the election which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
In a speech, Mr K.K. Kusi, the Constituency NPP Chairman commended the delegates for the peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves in the elections and called on well-meaning supporters in the constituency to bury their differences and unite in the interest of the party.
He said there could be no meaningful development in any society where vandalism and violence were the order of the day, emphasizing that it was high time NPP activists shun double-standards and committed resources in ensuring a landslide victory for the party in the December election.
Dr Duah thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised that he would work hard to uplift the socio-economic development of the area.
The MP announced that he would embark on a massive campaign to enhance his chances and that of the party in the elections now that he had been confirmed as the parliamentary candidate.
He urged party faithful to be supportive of his campaign to enable him to achieve his aim.
