The United Nations Security Council on Monday extended by 12 months the authorization of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
In its unanimously adopted Resolution 1833, the Security Council decided to extend the authorization of the ISAF for a year beyond October 13, 2008," determining that the situation in Afghanistan still constitutes a threat to international peace and security."
