Superintendent Peter Akwasi Denteh in-charge of Nkoranza District Police, has urged the district election security taskforce to remain neutral in the discharge of its duties.
He asked the group to work hard to avoid clashes at political rallies and on 7 December to ensure peaceful elections.
Supt. Denteh was addressing members of the group at separate meetings to plan measures to check violence in the communities on 7 December, at Nkoranza and Busunya.
He said that no polling station in the area had been identified as a "flash point" and advised the youth to sustain peace and discipline.
Supt. Denteh urged leaders of political parties contesting Election 2008 to ensure that their supporters do not engage in confrontation and violence.
He urged individuals, especially opinion leaders and organisations such as Churches to support the campaign against political violence.
Supt. Denteh advised journalists to be circumspect in their reportage and to avoid sensationalism that could create confusion.
