Zimbabwe's opposition the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) said on Friday it will not join any new government in the country before all issues in power-sharing talks are resolved, an official said.
The opposition MDC Vice President Thokozani Khupe told reporters that a meeting of the party leadership had resolved not to join a government until all outstanding issues in the talks were concluded.
The MDC decision came after a meeting of the party's executive on Friday to decide on whether to join a government with Mugabe's ZANU-PF under a power-sharing deal.
Khupe said the opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was absent from the executive meeting of the party as he was out of the country, meeting the Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders to explain the MDC's position.
According to Friday's The Herald, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has started the process of forming an inclusive government in line with the recommendations of last Sunday's SADC Extraordinary Summit that called for its urgent establishment.
The recommendation was also endorsed by the ruling Zanu-PF Politburo and the Professor Arthur Mutambara-led MDC formation this week, the daily newspaper said.
