Dr Mathew Prempeh, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Manhyia in Kumasi, has challenged Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the party to transform itself to become an intellectual youth wing of the party.
He said TESCON should not be seen as only interested in organizing ceremonial functions, but transforms itself into an intellectual body, which could undertakes research and other intellectual programmes to move the party forward.
Dr Prempeh threw the challenge when new TESCON executives for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Nursing and Midwifery training colleges were inducted into office at an inauguration ceremony in Kumasi.
He appealed to members to always do thorough analysis of government programmes and policies in order to be able to explain them to the electorate in order to win their support.
Mr Isaac Osei, NPP parliamentary candidate for Subin in Kumasi, urged the students to study hard and be dedicated to the profession they had chosen.
He charged TESCON members to demonstrate high sense of responsibility and good behaviour in order to attract their colleagues on campus to join the NPP.
Mr Osei said the NPP government had done a lot in the health sector and it was up to them, who were health workers to explain it to people.
