Reverend Moses Ayitey, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal Council (GPC) on Friday called on Ghanaians to demonstrate peace and love during Election 2008.
He said peaceful elections were the starting point for godly leadership and good governance.
Rev. Ayitey, who said these during a pre-election prayers organized by the Council in Ho, asked politicians not to consider their political opponents as enemies or rival claimants to the nation's resources but as partners in development.
He urged Christians to conduct themselves well and pray ceaselessly for peace before, during and after the elections.
Rev. Gabriel Komla Dzigbordi Opeiku, vice chairman of the Council in the Volta Region, urged stakeholders in this year's elections to collectively ensure peaceful polls.
Prayers were said for peaceful elections, for the selection of the right leadership for the nation, security agencies, the Electoral Commission and for the prosperity of the country.
Captain George Nfodjoh (rtd), National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ho Central, and Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Ho Central were present.
