The special voting exercise kicked off at 0700 hours on Tuesday at the Police Headquarters polling station in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
Members of the security services comprising the police, Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Prisons, Fire Service and Immigration, as well as staff from the news media, who would be involved in the conduct or monitoring of the December 7 general election were there to cast their votes.
As at 0930 hours when the GNA visited the polling centre, 55 people had already cast their votes, out of 641 persons on the special voters list.
The Presiding Officer, Mr George Konlan, said the exercise was progressing smoothly, and that the centre had all the requisite materials to ensure a successful poll for the day.
The polling agents of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), the People's National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People's Party (CPP) were at post.
They expressed their satisfaction at the progress made so far. However, Issaka Haruna, the NDC representative expressed his concern at the omission by the Electoral Commission (EC) of the names of some voters from the special voters list, even though they had applied to take part.
He said though all the polling agents present had agreed in principle to allow such voters to vote, it might increase the number of ballots, which would mean going through another process to get ballot papers.
The Presiding Officer said the increase in the number of voters would not have any adverse effect on the proceedings.
