Mrs Alberta Mensah Bonsu, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), has urged presiding officers and polling assistants to be more impartial in their work during the December 7, 2008 polls.
She gave the advice at the weekend when the Commission organised a training workshop for over 130 presiding officers and polling assistants in the Juaben Zone of the Municipality of Ashanti.
She noted that the behaviour, which would be put up by the officers at the polling stations on the day of the election would determine the success of the polls.
Mrs Bonsu advised the officers to treat all persons with equal respect and fairness to ensure a successful exercise.
The Municipal Electoral Officer said the Commission would provide jackets for presiding officers for easy identification. It would also provide rations.
She entreated the participants not to go to the polling station drunk to create problem for the Commission.
All the 130 officers, who were selected from the 26 polling stations in the Juaben Zone went through the basic rules and regulations governing the electoral process, how to assist the physically challenged to vote, counting procedure and how to announce the results.
