Mr Kobina Okyere Darko-Mensah, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Takoradi Constituency, has presented a multipurpose fax machine to Western Region Branch of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
The equipment valued at 350 Ghana cedis can copy, phone and scan documents.
He said the equipment was to equip the GJA in the Region to effectively collate and disseminate election results from Takoradi.
Mr Darko-Mensah urged the media to ensure the election was conducted in a
peaceful manner through their reportage and reminded journalists not to publish statements by politicians that would create confusion.
However, he urged the media not to relent on its responsibilities and perform its constitutional functions effectively.
"Please avoid biases and be truthful, transparent and fair to all" he added.
Mr Darko-Mensah pledged to sponsor needy but brilliant students and assist semi-skilled artisans to enable them apply for jobs and win contracts for their trade when elected.
Mr George A. Naykene, Western Regional Chairman of GJA said the equipment would facilitate their work during Election 2008.
