The Winneba Police has arrested George Korsi Asigbetse a student University of Education Winneba (UEW) and driver of a taxi cab that allegedly drove into NDC supporters on a keep-fit exercise last Sunday at Winneba injuring 10 of them.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Emmanuel Nana Ofori, Effutu Municipal Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Commander, told Ghana News Agency at Winneba that Asigbetse surrendered to the police alleging that "he feared of being lynched by the angry crowd after initially knocking down the first person and sped through them to the police station".
ASP Ofori said six of the victims had been treated and discharged at the Winneba Government Hospital.
They are Elizabeth Atobra, Kwesi Nyarko, Kwame Asamani, Paul Donkoh, Efua Mansah and Esi Amissah.
He said four other victims still on admission were responding to treatment.
They are Madam Mary Imprim, Esi Adoko, Felicia Danso and Esi Amissah.
ASP Ofori said the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations.
