Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said here Tuesday that Pakistan did not want military confrontation but would defend itself if war was imposed.
Talking to reporters after Eid prayers at Darbar shrine of Hazrat Bahauddin Zikriya in Multan of Punjab province, Qureshi said Pakistan wanted peace and stability in the region but its desire for peace and friendship should not be taken as weakness.
The official Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Qureshi as saying that Pakistani President, Prime Minister and he himself had made it clear to the world time and again that Pakistan was not involved, in anyway, in Mumbai attacks and did not want confrontation because Pakistan was a peace-loving nation.
Referring to the arrest of a few leaders and members of some banned outfits, Qureshi said they were apprehended due to the efforts made by Pakistan's intelligence agencies in a government's commitment that the country's soil would not be allowed to use for terrorist activities against any other country.
Qureshi added that Pakistan would not hand them over to India and the action would be taken against them according to law of the land.
Qureshi said Pakistan had made a sincere offer of joint investigation into Mumbai attacks but had not yet received any response from the Indian side. Pakistan has also sent a letter to India asking it to present proof of the allegations but still awaits response on the matter from the Indian authorities, he said.
