Rev. Dr. Jonathan Ayitey Mensah, District Minister of the Adabraka Presbyterian Church on Tuesday urged activists of National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) to avoid the use of inflammatory language during their campaigns.
He said: "The resort to talking tough and trading of accusations and intimidation by activists of the two political parties against each another is not a sign of healthy political competition and could have dire consequences for the upcoming general elections".
Rev Ayitey Mensah said this when addressing, a service held in Accra to close a three-day district session.
The district session served as a platform for various local churches to deliberate on their welfare.
He also called on supporters of the various political parties to remain calm even when provoked by their opponents during the run-off election.
Rev Ayitey Mensah said, as the nation entered another era of its democratisation, there was the need for the people to unite and sustain the peace they were enjoying.
He reminded political parties that, because they played a significant role in nation-building, they ought to be tolerant and ensure peace before, during and after the elections.
