The mandate for change thrust on the new government must go beyond new faces and new structures, and rather be seen and felt in selfless service to the country.
The Reverend Dr Seth S. Agidi, Principal of the E. P. University College, Greenhill Campus, Peki, gave the exhortation in a sermon at a thanksgiving service for peaceful elections organized by the Peki Local Council of Churches on Sunday.
The sermon theme was "Repent and Receive the Good News".
He said change like repentance demanded a complete transformation of the total being both physically, mentally and spiritually, leading to a complete departure from what used to be.
Rev. Dr. Agidi said Ghanaians are looking forward to a new era of things in which the poorest of the poor could have a better life.
He said as God gave the world another chance for repentance and good life through Jesus Christ, so the mandate for change should be for all Ghanaians.
Rev. Dr Agidi cautioned government functionaries to see their positions as a calling to serve the citizenry rather than self-serving.
He also urged the citizenry to be ready to work hard at anything they did.
"Don't make the MP your source of funding, don't put financial burden on those in government", he cautioned, lest they become corrupt.
"If we work hard there will be peace and more for us all", he exhorted.
