The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Robert Andrew Ghunney has lauded President John Atta Mills' decision to allow District and Municipal Chief Executives (MCE) to be in office for sometime.
He said the presence of the old chief executives in office was part of "administrative continuity" and this has the potential to accelerate national development.
Mr Ghunney, who has been in office for only eight months following the separation of the Effutu-Awutu-Senya district, was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Winneba.
He said "the fact that there has been a change in government does not mean that DCEs and MCEs must leave office".
Mr Ghunney said asking DCEs and MCEs to leave office without giving them time normally disrupts development in their communities.
"We need to do away with partisan politics and concentrate on development of the nation," he said.
Mr Ghunney said development was neither for the NDC nor the NPP, but for the state, hence the President could appoint anybody who was capable of working, to any office to develop the nation.
