The Reverend Samuel Kwabena Fugah, an evangelist and opinion leader, has called on Ghanaians to support the government to promote communal unity for effective development of the country.
He said the country has reached a point where people have to do away with political differences, ethnicity and other societal barriers, and come together as one people to sustain the country's democratic process to enhance good governance.
Rev Fugah was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Monday.
He said there is the need for Ghanaians to refrain from acts that create division, hatred and confrontations, and consider each other as partners in a community struggling to achieve a common goal.
He said people do not have to judge the views of others and take decisions for them.
"If people will understand that no idea is superior or useless, then the in-fighting, insults and tension that erupt in dialogue can be reduced.
The success of the constitutional democracy depends on us. We have to tolerate each other and do not have to provoke our neighbours," he added.
Rev Fugah called on government to fully resource the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), so that they can educate Ghanaians on their civic and social responsibilities.
He also called on the NCCE to operate in a way that people will have confidence in their programmes to fight poverty, ignorance, ethnicity and diseases.
