Hundreds of youth in the Atwima-Mponua District at the weekend thronged the streets of Nyinahin to protest against attempts by some assembly members to remove the District Chief Executive, Mrs Theresah Adomako-Tawiah.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) enquiry showed that 18 out of the 50 members of the assembly have signed a petition to begin the process of a
no-confidence vote in the DCE. GNA's Efforts to get a copy of the petition proved futile.
The youth wearing red arm bands and carried placards, denounced the actions of the assembly members against the DCE.
Mr Andrew Osei, the spokesperson for the protesters, said they did not see any justification to call for the DCE's removal since she had
demonstrated quality leadership.
They said the DCE had within her relatively short time in office, endeared herself to the communities and left no one in doubt about her
concern for the development of the people.
Mr Osei said they would, therefore, resist any attempt to kick her out.
"The DCE should be given the peace of mind to lead our district into progress," he added.
The Assembly could remove the DCE with a-two-thirds majority vote.
