U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Iran Monday to free three detained Americans, saying
allegations against them are unfounded.
Clinton said Iranian charges against the three are "totally unfounded," saying they were "out hiking and ... allegedly walked across an unmarked
boundary."
The three Americans, Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal, were arrested in Iran on July 31 after they illegally entered the country from
its western boarders.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Monday they will stand trials in the country, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.
Clinton appealed to the Iranian leadership to release the three.
