The Presiding Member of the Ajumako-Enyan- Essiam District Assembly, Mr Solomon F. Cobbinah has urged members of the Assembly to come together as one body and plan towards the development of the district.
He said with the elections over, there was the need for them to combine ideas, knowledge and energies to improve the living condition of the people.
Mr Cobbinah said these at the General Meeting of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly at Ajumako where the Assembly unanimously approved of its 2013 Annual Composite Budget.
It also approved of its procurement fund and Annual Action Plans among others.
The Presiding Member appealed to the Assembly members not to extend their political activities into the House and reminded them of the non-partisan nature of the District Assembly concept.
"You should try to patch up divisions created among your people during the elections", he stressed.
He appealed to them to educate their people on the need to maintain peace after the elections, forget about the past and forge ahead.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Peter Light Koomson, commended the chiefs and people of the area for helping to have a peaceful and incident-free election on December 7.
He also expressed gratitude to the District Election Task force chaired by the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Seth Tay and all the security agencies for maintaining order in the area.
The DCE said during the elections about 150 security personnel drawn from Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and a military contingent of 10 men and one officer were deployed in all the 119 polling stations in the constituency.
He said the Assembly provided the needed support in the form of transport, fuel and accommodation for the Task force, and thanked heads of departments who willingly release their vehicles to support the exercise.
He said their assistance made the district to experience problems such as delay in starting voting, late arrival of electoral materials and personnel to the polling stations as reported in some constituencies,
"This credit goes to all of us for working together to bring about peace which is vital to our development as a people", he said, adding that "we should continue to work towards maintaining peace and order in the district".
