Description
- Key advisor to the Executive President and Management of the company on all matters relating to Financial Management, including treasury, asset and financial risk management and ensure that the Executive President is appraised of key financial issues that need to be discussed with the Board of Directors to enable them to fully understand the financial position of the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, the effective operation and development of management systems for all accounting functions, particularly those relating to purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking, nominal ledger and stock control and provide an accurate and timely financial service including setting and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, cash flow analysis, management and financial accounts and advice and support to inform decision making at all levels.
- Overall responsibility for maintenance of the internal control environment, including robust and transparent processes being followed within the context of a comprehensive financial management framework.
- Spearhead the development of short, medium and long-term financial plans and implement them.
- Responsible for all statutory reporting/returns and compliance including; GRA, SSNIT, and Registrar General.
- Develop finance policies and procedures and ensure that these are being consistently followed, including customer and supplier contracts, purchase orders, credit control, and ensuring timely invoicing to customers.
- Manage the annual audit process in conjunction with the appointed auditors to ensure statutory accounts are produced within the required deadlines.
- Ensure that budgets and management accounts accurately reflect the business activity, that accruals and other adjustments are being made correctly, that variances from budget and other issues are investigated and resolved.
- Responsible and report on the overall business risk assessment and management process of the organisation, ensuring with the Executive President and the Board adequately assess and document risks faced by the Company.
- Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation with all staff, consultants and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development, review, implementation and maintenance of organisational policies, operational manuals and strategies.
- Lead on the financial aspects of any strategic projects aimed at achieving growth of the organisation.
- Monitor and control the quality and cost-effectiveness of the company’s services to ensure high standards and value for money.
- Liaise with the Technical Operations and Human Resources Managers to ensure staffing levels are maintained, recruiting effective staff as necessary, in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Effectively manage the performance of the team by carrying out progress reviews and ensuring objectives and key outputs are cascaded throughout the organization.
- Liaise with the Human Resources Manager, Technical Operations and relevant line managers or team leads to establish an on-going training programme in line with company policies, to develop all staff to appropriate standards.
- Communicate effectively with team on a regular basis ensuring information is clear, accurate and timely; encouraging team participation in the way information is relayed to and from the organization.
- Ensure that Working Time Regulations are adhered to and that established reporting procedures are adhered to and monitored.
- Ensure that robust budgets are established which are relevant to the prevailing organisational structure and responsibilities in the Company; that effective budgetary controls are in place and that budget holders and management receive regular and timely reports on performance against budgets and prior periods.
- Ensure the collection of all debts in a timely manner and ensure payment of suppliers within the agreed terms.
- Ensure there are effective procurement procedures in place which provide value for money and fulfil to agreed appropriate payment terms with suppliers.
- Regularly review and update the Financial Regulations and all Policies and Procedures relevant to the Finance function and ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation (IFRS and Company Law)
- Establish and manage professional finance team, ensuring that they operate efficiently and professionally and are focused upon meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
