Job Description: Finance Officer
F I N A N C E / A C C O U N T S O F F I C E R
REPORTING TO: COUNTRY DIRECTOR
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Build value for both internal and external stakeholders:
o To manage and control key finance functions in accordance with project
budgets and agreed processes.
• Meet key performance goals:
o Be responsible for the financial system, employee pay records and benefits and
approval of payouts. This includes monitoring all expenses and budgets within
the company to comply with approved policies.
o Specific duties include, approving invoices, issuing receipts, and creating overall
budget projections. Other specialized duties include, maintaining the required
documentation and ensuring the delivery of financial records in a timely
manner.
o Primary responsibilities will include assisting Operations team in the Monthly
Operations Review, identification of areas for cost reductions and operational
improvements, annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and periodic
analysis of operations performance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Extensive knowledge and ability to apply QuickBooks/SAGE
• Requires a solid knowledge of auditing principles and practices.
• Requires the ability to analyze and interpret accounting records and prepare
comprehensive reports.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively.
• High level Excel expertise
• 3-5 years previous experience
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent Professional
qualification.
• Bill payment and coding of invoices and various other Accounts Payable duties as
directed by the head of Finance and Admin
• Scanning of accounts payable invoices, journal entries
• Review and follow up on withholding tax Slips.
• Prepare the Monthly Management Reporting Book which includes printing, collating,
binding, and distribution.
• Has an open and friendly personality.
• Thorough understanding of taxes and application of same especially VAT taxes
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Ability to understand and work within clients’ budget.
• Maintain agreed profitability margins.
• Ensure all quotations and IN / OUT costs are accurate.
• Monitor outgoing costs. Ensure client invoicing is correct and timely.
• Participate in updating the monthly Billings Sheet
