Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification with a recognized engineering body (e.g., GhIE, ICE, ASCE).
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in road and highway engineering, with a proven track record in delivering large and complex road projects.
Strong technical expertise in road design, pavement engineering, and construction supervision.
Proven experience with relevant design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MX Road, InRoads).
Solid understanding of local and international road design standards (e.g., AASHTO, BS, or equivalent).
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with contractors and consultants.

Description
Job Purpose:
The Senior Road Engineer will lead the planning, design, supervision, and delivery of complex road infrastructure projects. This role requires extensive technical expertise in highway and road engineering, project management, and stakeholder coordination to ensure that road construction and rehabilitation works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of road and highway projects, including geometric design, pavement design, drainage, and traffic management plans.
- Review and approve detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, and budgets for road projects of varying scales and complexities.
- Supervise and coordinate site works, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and project teams.
- Conduct feasibility studies, route alignment studies, and environmental impact assessments where required.
- Oversee procurement processes, including preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and contractor selection.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and contractual issues.
- Monitor project progress, prepare technical reports, and ensure adherence to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Review and certify contractor claims, variations, and progress payments.
- Carry out site inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure works meet design specifications and industry best practices.
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to optimize designs and reduce costs.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, construction methods, and relevant local and international codes and standards.
