Responsibilities: The Safety Officer will ensure that the company, its employees and third party operators think safety, act safely and help others to act safely thus preventing accidents and incidents which may lead to loss of time, injury, fatalities and damage to property and environment. Core Duties: 1. The Safety Officer shall develop Safety Training Materials for the education of employees. 2. The Safety Officer shall ensure that new employees are taken through occupational Health, Safety and the Environment as Induction Training before they are allowed to start work. 3. The Safety Officer shall hold daily Tool Box meeting daily by each Supervisor before work starts including non-construction workers. This meeting will inform all personnel of any changes to or new hazards identified and work requirements for the period. Minutes of such meetings shall be recorded and maintained. The maximum period shall be 5 minutes. 4. The Safety Officer shall ensure that all Supervisors inspect all areas within their scope of work on daily basis and take any corrective action immediately in order to maintain that area in a hazard free condition. The Safety Officer shall provide each Supervisor with a checklist to be applied during the inspection. 5. The Safety Officer shall routinely carry out safety inspection on plant, equipment and tools to confirm their suitability for use or otherwise. Where there is a possible hazard, the equipment may be grounded until adequate action is taken to remove the hazard. 7 The Safety Officer will carry out investigation into any accident, incidents and near hits. The investigation is to ascertain the causes of the accident/incident, any safety lapses, and actions taken after the accident and establish lessons learnt and submit a report to the Management. The Report shall highlight lessons learnt and include an action plan to prevent recurrence. 8 The Safety Officer shall generally ensure that both employer and employees maintain a healthy and safe work environment. Qualifications (Minimum level necessary to perform the job) • Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant field • 3 years relevant working experience..
