JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Accountant / Finance Coordinator will have responsibility for all aspects of Financial Accounting for the business (AP, AR, GL, Cash & Banking) as for drafting the month end and year end statutory accounts to a level that enables them to withstand independent audit or tax inspection. They will ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial transactions and support and mentor the local site finance team in conducting of day-to-day activities.
TYPICAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Financial Accounting
- Assist the team with every aspect of the financial accounting activity of the business including Invoicing, Credit Control, Supplier Payments, Cash & Banking and fixed assets.
- Help drive continuous improvement in the function by streamlining processes and updating month end checklists. Looks for opportunities to improve reporting tools leading to improved efficiency and a reduction of duplication
- Responsible for the Month End Close, overseeing or preparing accruals and prepayment calculations, journal entries.
- Prepares month end cost center reports with variance analysis to budget and prior year. Holds cost center budget owners to account. Assists where appropriate with any commentary on financial performance commentary
- Assists with the annual budget preparation
- Supports site team in managing the ERP systems and data extraction
- Support integration of new acquisitions into group reports and ERP migration.
Tax and Fiscal Submissions
- Responsible for submission of sales tax and similar local and national government returns
- Responsible for preparing year end files for year-end tax preparation
Financial and Business Analysis
- Undertakes financial analysis for key accounts and cost centres to explain overspend by accounts
- Ability to undertake ad hoc analysis for internal and external stakeholders/customers as required
- Prepares simple concise presentation ready analysis and reports that communicate key messages clearly in an easy to assimilate format.
