Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Safety:
- Actively partake in ensuring sustained adherence to safe practices by all personnel working in the relevant Maintenance & Repair shift (own staff or outsourced).
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments, work permits, and Lock out/Tag outs are in place and understood by maintenance team before commencement of work.
- Responsible for the safe performance of the equipment during his shift. Ensure that all components are performing effectively and safely. Report to the shift coordinator any alteration on the equipment which might have an impact on the performance of the equipment.
Performance:
- Ensuring all the equipment preventive/corrective maintenance planned during his shift are completed on time as per the PM schedule.
- Accountable for the equipment smooth operation with the least possible interruption. The agreed target KPI should be achieved including but not limited to Availability, Operational availability, PMSC, MMBF, MTTR, …etc
- Receiving Breakdown calls on the radio, responding to the calls himself or by following up on the Breakdown technicians team, and ensuring the equipment is handed over to Ops within the target Mean time to repair (MTTR).
- Ensure that all the activities performed during the shift are captured in 5-Why reports or work orders and delivered to the shift planner before the shift handover.
- Ensure that all the shift related work order on CMMS (IFS) are properly reviewed to ensure that data provided is correct including the work performed, the materials issued, and the manhours registration.
- Ensure that all the pending activities are smoothly handed over to the next shift on duty together with the relevant work orders and documents required to follow up the work effectively.
- Send the correct shift activities report on shift basis after ensuring the provided data quality is up to the standard with no errors.
- Supervise the electrical or mechanical jobs during his shift and provide the technical assistance to the technicians when needed and ensure that the equipment is handed over to Ops in a good condition (properly cleaned and in accordance with 5-S standards) and working in good order.
- Communicate with the shift planner any finding on the equipment, which is not safety critical and not currently impacting the safe performance of the equipment, and that can be planned on IFS through work orders.
- Properly and effectively plan for the shift activities based on the work planned from the AM planning team, the feedback from the handed over shift, and the available resources to achieve the best productivity within his shift.
- Support the shift technical coordinator whenever requested to perform any of the assigned tasks.
- Draft and review SOP for the different equipment whenever required.
- Train, together with the shift supervisor, the technicians for the safe and correct technical implementation of these SOPs during PM and CM activities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the equipment repair strategies and sustainability of shift resources and provide feedback to maintenance planning engineer.
Resources Management:
- Ensuring, in coordination with the shift coordinator, that all the PM materials and resources are always available to accomplish the activities planned within the shift.
- Highlight the need for any spare parts, create the relevant requisitions for these parts, and properly follow up on these requests.
- Allocate optimally the technicians on different jobs during the shift and work hand in hand with them whenever needed, and perform the necessary follow up on the different activities.
Continuous improvement:
- Perform regular inspections on the equipment during operations, whenever requested to performed during his shift, to identify any potential failure and report them to the shift coordinator and the shift planner for proper follow up.
- Continuously work on improving the Breakdown response time through highlighting any areas of under performance during the Breakdown process since the receival of the call till the delivery of the crane in order to improve the equipment operational availability and MMBF/MTBF.
- Proposing improvements in our way of working through suggesting special tools, SOP, equipment …etc for faster, safer, easier operations, and also to reduce the equipment running costs.
Teamwork and cooperation:
- Provide day to day supervision and coordination of the shift working team.
- Ensure clear communication with the internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively coordinate with facility, planning, and other Asset Maintenance sections members to accomplish, within his shift, all the tasks related to the concerned equipment including but not limited to performing PM activities on STS cranes A/C units, collecting equipment running hours, etc.
