Description
OVERALL GOAL
The Finance Manager will be responsible for oversight on all the financial and business management procedures, policies and practices of the company, developing and implementing the financial strategy through effective planning, implementation of internal control measures and identifying ethical and efficient ways of saving on the cost of operations and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our Client.
The role reports to the Managing Director
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Strategy Formulation
- Develop and document the company’s financial strategies and policies and ensure compliance.
- Develop sound accounting policies, for maintaining an adequate and efficient accounting system, safeguarding assets, authorizing transactions, and proper internal control systems.
- Implement policies to effectively manage working capital including cash utilization, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and inventory.
Financial Reporting
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that indicate the financial health of the organization, and compliance with statutory guidelines, and provide advice on best practices to adapt.
- Oversee the implementation of the company’s financial strategy, internal accounting policies, and common financial systems.
- Prepare monthly revenue maximization and cost minimization measures report to assist in decision-making.
- Manage the company’s bank accounts and the monthly/annual maintenance of the company’s chart of accounts.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual budget reports for management.
- Conduct ongoing budget analysis, flag inconsistencies, and propose corrective action when needed
- Engage with all units throughout the Company and formulate each unit’s budget.
- Build financial models to adequately forecast and simulate multiple financial scenarios against external, economic changes, with the ultimate aim being financial sustainability.
- Monitor, forecast, analyse and report on each unit’s budget and make recommendations.
- Develop and maintain budget policies and procedures
Governance and Compliance
- Manage the company’s internal auditing processes and ensure that external auditors have all the necessary support to do their work effectively.
- Supervise and coordinate the preparation and implementation of annual internal audit plans /programs and endure adherence to plans.
- Responsible for audit reviews of business units, financial and management processes, and systems to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain and ensure compliance with the documented system of finance policies and procedures
- Generate reports on risk assessments and ensures relevant interventions are implemented.
Pricing and costing
- Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans
- Provide expert guidance in the costing of personnel, activities, and operations.
- Analyzing costs by studying historical data, identifying trends in expenses, and recommending cost reduction strategies
- Analyzing market trends to discover business opportunities and maximize profits.
Work Environment and Staff Development
- Ensure the finance unit has an environment that promotes growth, wellbeing, productivity, cohesive teamwork and effective communication.
- Ensure the unit integrates itself with other units within our Client’s company.
- Instill Our Client’s values within the team and ensure staff are developed to their best potential.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines – Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics.
- ACCA/CIMA, CA, or its equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of related progressive finance experience with a reputed medium to large-scale FMCG manufacturing/distribution company.
- Deep understanding of IFRS and financial reporting tools.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Proficiency in the use of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, Xero, Tally, etc. is required.
- In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
- Experience in Taxation.
- Proven experience in managing procurement within the FMCG/Manufacturing sector.
- Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models.
- Hands-on experience in Inventory Management.
