JOB DESCRIPTION FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Location: Tema
Reports to: Managing Director
DUTIES:
PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION TO THE QA TEAM
- Prepare long and short range plans and individual KPIs to attain departmental objectives and targets
- Supervise, motivate and organize staff to enable the department to run effectively and efficiently to meet all deadlines and departmental objectives
FOOD SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Understand the relevant standards EGL needs to adhere to and how to apply them in the various production areas.
- Ensure that all products meet the legal food safety requirements. (FDA/GSA/ISO etc.)
QUALITY SYSTEMS
- Develop Prerequisite Programs and Supporting Documentation.
- Develop HACCP Plan or Equivalent Food Safety (ISO).
QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Quality assurance procedures are implemented throughout the process to ensure that specifications are met and procedures are being followed
- Quality specifications are maintained and reviewed on a systematic basis
OPERATIONAL AND CAPITAL EXPENDITURE
- Develop and maintain OPEX (Operating Expense) budget in accordance with the company's published annual budget.
- Monitor and report on progress of actual expenditure to budget on a monthly basis.
INDUCTION, TRAINING AND AWARENESS
- In conjunction with HR/Admin, ensure that a training record of staff is kept up to date and that all production and associated staff have attained awareness and knowledge of key quality and compliance processes and standards.
- Perform systematic induction of new staff and re-induct all staff annually.
ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
- Lead root cause analysis/investigations as required for all manufactured products.
- Prepare and distribute periodic quality reports to senior management and other key stakeholders
MAINTENANCE OF CGRM/LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the CGRM/Laboratory systems or equipment.
- Follow up on any functionality and/or user issues with CGRM team and/or developers to ensure they are resolved rapidly.
MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
- Attend production/ operations meetings and communicate any problems or solutions to other line managers and supervisors.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for management.
PROMOTE SAFE ATTITUDES AND WORK PRACTICES
- Communicate WHS (Workplace Health & Safety) strategies and direction to staff.
- Ensure supervisors and staff are aware of their WHS responsibilities and obligations.
- Identify, assess and control risk (that might impact on quality) in the workplace.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED & EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of first degree in Food Science, Food Process Engineering, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biological Science
• A minimum of three years’ work in area of quality in a manufacturing industry, preferably, a food processing company.
•Participation in training courses in Quality Programmes
