Description
A fast growing Restaurant/Fast food Center is seeking to hire a Pastry Chef who is also a good cook.
He/She will oversee all aspects of the kitchen’s management, food and pastries preparation, ordering and menu planning. This includes ensuring a nutritious well-balanced menu, making efficient use of resources, staying within an allocated budget, and providing excellent service to customers.
Responsibilities
- Cooking dishes and making pastries under the direction of the Head Chef or Manager.
- Ensure the kitchen is cleaned before and after food preparation.
- Preparing ingredients beforehand, like chopping the vegetables in a hygienic environment.
- Looking after the stock of the kitchen and informing the Head Chef or Manager as the stocks run out.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned before and after use.
- Giving suggestions regarding new preparations and the menu.
- Should know the menu thoroughly and should be able to make the various pastries on the menu.
- Help in the design of the interiors of the kitchen.
- Update or assist with the accounts of the kitchen (inventory).
- Report any mishaps in the kitchen to the head chef or manager.
- Apply safety standards.
- Ensure best hygienic practices in terms of food preparation and handling is always maintained.
- Keep a check of all safety equipment in the kitchen.
- Any other duty as may be assigned by your superiors.
