About The Or Foundation
Since 2011, The Or Foundation has worked at the intersection of education, environmental Justice and fashion innovation to identify and manifest alternatives to the dominant model of fashion, alternatives that bring forth ecological prosperity as opposed to destruction to allow citizens to form relationships beyond their role as consumers. Today, this work is centred primarily in Accra, Ghana, where we operate in solidarity with the world’s largest secondhand clothing market to catalyse a Justice-led circular textiles economy. Our collective team works across three distinct levels of programming. We offer critical relief to members of the secondhand market ecosystem in Accra, from direct grants to help rebuild after fire outbreaks to wrap-around job training and immersive support for young women to transition out of conditions of modern-day slavery. We develop and bring to life new pathways to transform waste material into economically and ecologically useful products and systems, from business incubation for upcyclers to experimental design with bioreactors. We conduct extensive environmental and socio-economic research to inform strategy, policy, and action at both the local and global level, bringing awareness of waste colonialism into classrooms, boardrooms, and legislative sessions through media, scientific publication, as well as coalition and delegation trips that build bridges beyond single stories and across perspectives.
Our team is as diverse as our programming, with members joining the organisation from within our communities of impact and throughout Ghana, and others coming from the Netherlands, France, and the USA. We are registered as a nonprofit and non-governmental organisation in the USA and in Ghana respectively.
Role Overview:
The Front Office & Sales Associate serves as both the welcoming face and the online voice of The Other Showroom. In this capacity, you will support front-of-house operations while also assisting as a Social Media and Content Assistant. You will help visitors feel at home in the space, share the stories behind our designers and products, and ensure day-to-day activities run smoothly.
This role is well-suited for someone who is passionate about fashion, community storytelling, and people, and is looking to grow within a creative retail environment like the Other Showroom that bridges design, culture, sustainability and community..
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk & Visitor Experience
Welcome and assist visitors, ensuring a warm and memorable showroom experience.
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing showroom floor.
Manage bookings for fittings, tours, designer sessions, and special visits.
Support daily administrative tasks, including logbooks, inquiries, and inventory checks.
Share information about The Or Foundation, the Other Showroom, designers, and the Kantamanto ecosystem.
Sales & Product Support
Assist in arranging visual product displays and updating price tags or product labels.
Record transactions and support point-of-sale operations where required.
Assist with product packaging, after-sales communication, and stock presentation.
Maintain display standards to ensure products are visually and professionally showcased.
Social Media & Digital Content
Capture behind-the-scenes images and videos that reflect the showroom story and designer collaborations.
Support scheduling and publishing content across Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant social media platforms.
Respond to comments, DMs, and online inquiries in a friendly, professional tone.
Support the Creative Director to maintain brand consistency in visuals, captions, and messaging.
Events & Team Support
Assist with planning and setup for in-store activations, pop-ups, and community events.
Coordinate RSVPs, guest lists, visitor engagement, and basic event communication.
Participate in creative brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for content, events, and retail experiences.
