Stakeholders in the development of the Effutu Municipality on Wednesday held a day's workshop on medium term development plans under the Medium Team Development Policy Framework from 2010 to 2013.
The workshop, organised by the Effutu Municipal Assembly and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), followed the expiration of the four-year Medium Term Development Plan under the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy 2006-2009.
It was attended by assembly members, educationist, traditional authorities, security personnel, opinion leaders, heads of departments and organizations and representatives from the private sector.
The stakeholders identified high rate of illiteracy among the people in the municipality and technical know how on their jobs as some of the top most priorities that retard the development of the area.
They called for the provision of social amenities including the provision of good drinking water to all the communities in the municipality and the construction and rehabilitation of roads.
They said if issues they had identified are included in the Municipal Four-Year Development Plan and ensure that they are addressed, they would help to reduce poverty in the area.
Mrs Mary Dzimey, the Procurement Officer of University of Education, Winneba, who chaired the programme, appealed to the Assembly to implement the recommendations of the workshop to enhance the development of the municipality.
