The Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church has praised Government for effectively managing the economy, resulting in the attainment of single digit inflation.
The Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie, who made the commendation, however, asked Government to further initiate measures so that the achievement would reflect in the pockets of Ghanaians.
He was speaking at the opening of the four-day first session of the 10th Synod of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church in Koforidua on Thursday.
The event, being organised on the theme: "Telling the story is a collaborative work", attracted delegates of the church from all the parishes in the Eastern Region.
Rt. Rev. Quashie said that if Ghanaians, especially those in the rural area benefit for economic posterity, it would help check rural-urban migration, streetism, prostitution, armed robbery and 'Kayayo' or activities of head porters among other problems.
He asked the laity to support their leaders towards the growth and development of the church.
Bishop Quashie suggested to parishes of the church to establishment credit unions towards poverty alleviation among members.
A retired Archbishop of the Province of West Africa, Most Rev. Robert Garshon Allotey Okine, called on Anglicans to contribute towards the
establishment of the Anglican University of Technology College.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo called on the Church to intensify its support for prison inmates apart from spreading the gospel.
He appealed to the church to assist Government to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.
