"Integrity included the commitment, honesty, and trustworthiness in approaching business from the onset. Integrity was the biggest currency needed to start a business, "according to him.

He was speaking at a mentorship seminar organised for students of the Madina Social Welfare Vocational Training School on the theme: "Who is an Entrepreneur: Are they Born or Made?"

On the factors to consider in the pursuit of entrepreneurship, Mr Ocloo urged the participants to avoid the temptation of starting a business just because a friend or someone was already into it and doing it successfully.

Mr Ocloo said he had started and failed in a number of businesses because he did not learn about them hence the need for those with the passion to start business to study about the ventures they would be going into.

He said although he believed that some entrepreneurs are born, they formed only about two per cent of the population, adding that, a large number of entrepreneurs were made through learning and immersion or apprenticeship.

He said there was the need for the young people to adopt the habit of successful entrepreneurs, which includes discipline, differing of gratification, fearlessness and risk-taking, and pursuance of innovation.

Mr Julian Eric Appiah, Director for Non-formal Education Division, La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), urged the students to aim at employing themselves after school by creating business that solved the problems in society.

He urged them to put into practice, what they had been taught both in school and during the mentorship programme and never to aim at working for someone for their entire working lives.

Madam Juliana Acheampong Gyamfi, the Municipal Youth Director for the LaNMMA, said the mentorship seminar was aimed at preparing young people to start their own businesses after school and not necessarily rely on any entity for employment.

She said the seminar was part of the Municipality's activities for the year to engage the youth and prepare them for the future of work.
