As an endeavour to showcase the rich Ghanaian culture and promote local businesses, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and GROW. UNITE. BUILD. AFRICA (GUBA), has organised ‘A Taste of Ghana” fair to encourage prospective investors to want to know more about the country with the idea of exploring business opportunities and seeking partnerships.

The fair is a unique event that aims to project the beauty of Ghanaian culture and heritage. The event also forms part of the Beyond the Return activities.

Addressing the media at the Accra Polo Club on Sunday, December 27, Chief Executive of GIPC, Yofi Grant said bringing together Ghanaians and the African Diaspora, the event will primarily foster an informal networking session for all attendees, and also encourage the support and patronage of ‘Made in Ghana’ products.

“It may encourage people to see what there are in our arts, clothing, food they are all investments opportunities, it is important to market ourselves as a country,” Yofi Grant intimated.

President of GUBA Enterprise, Dentaa Amoateng, revealed that organisers are in talks with investors on potential investments for the event next year in order for it to become bigger.

The fair saw several display of rich Ghanaian culture, with varied Ghanaian cuisines and drinks from young entrepreneurs.

A 15-year-old boy from the Diaspora who designs jackets, Tovia Ansah, explaining how he started sewing and how the fair has been beneficial said, “I delight doing things with my hands. So when I was in England I looked for clothing like that but I found it hard to find one, so I decided to come up with it. I did apprenticeship with a local tailor and I learned how to make all and started doing my business. It’s been six months now and business is booming.”

A Bartender who works at the Laboratory Cocktail, Michael Otukournu, made cocktails served in lanterns. The initiative, he said, has been very lucrative.

“I think so far it been good. You know I’m doing something different so everyone wants to try it. Because of this everyone is coming to my bar. People keep asking if it’s for real because it’s not like the normal Bobo they know. Coming to the fair has been very lucrative,” he added.
