Ms Sandra Appertey, a Financial Advisor and the brain behind the MoneyHub programme speaking at the closing ceremony last Friday said it was only when they undertake savings as a regular form of investment at an early stage of their lives that they could attain financial independence.

The event held under the theme “Emerging opportunities in business and technology” was attended by over 500 students from BlueCrest University College, GH Media School, and the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Ms Appertey said she decided to return to Ghana from South Africa to start a financial literacy programme as part her contribution to help the youth to be financial independent.

She urged them to pick people of good character to be their role models and mentors.

She also encouraged them to form partnerships with people and not always look at doing things individually.

 “When four people come together to do the same business, their reach could be wider than one person doing everything by him or herself,” she said.

The Chief Executive Officer of GH Media School, Leslie Addo Listowel, urged them to keep sharpening their skills and utilise technology in their activities.

 He asked them to move away from conventional thinking and take advantage of the various freelancing applications to make a living, adding that in the midst of difficulties, there were opportunities.

An entrepreneur, Eugene Appertey, said as aspiring entrepreneurs, they must develop their thoughts into realistic business plans.
