“These are both exceptionally strong board members who are well-connected business people. Also, Eduardo is the grandson and namesake of Mozambican anthropologist Eduardo Mondlane, who was the founding president of the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frente de Libertação de Moçambique, or Frelimo),” says ForAfrika CEO Isak Pretorius.

Annan founded Annan Capital Partners, a boutique investment advisory and business development agency, in 2012 (as Roberta Annan Consulting). She has extensive experience in establishing relationships between the public and the private sectors and in executing market entry strategies into sub-Saharan Africa.

She launched the African Fashion Foundation in 2014, followed by the Impact Fund for African Creatives in 2021. Among the many awards accorded to her, Annan was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2019 Women’s Choice Awards Africa.

Mondlane has more than 30 years’ experience as a senior strategic adviser in the Southern African region, where he worked with the Barclays Africa Group and the Absa Group; Banco Commercial Angolano; and sub-Saharan financial services group Atlas Mara. Mondlane is currently senior adviser to TotalEnergies Mozambique for the development of its $23-billion liquefied natural gas facility.

Founded in South Africa in 1984 as Joint Aid Management, ForAfrika reached 2.9-million people in 2021 – more than 1.2-million in South Sudan and more than 903 000 in Angola, 50 000 in Uganda, 400 000 in Mozambique, 166 300 in South Africa and 500 in Rwanda in the same year. ForAfrika aims to save lives, alleviate suffering, ensure access to water and sanitation, improve health and nutrition, encourage education, increase food security, promote livelihoods, and develop resilience and stability through economic empowerment.
