A NEWLY constituted Board of Directors of SIC Insurance PLC was inaugurated in Accra to steer the company towards reclaiming its market leadership and fostering sustained growth.
It has the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Akatsi South in the Volta Region, Mr Bernard Ahiafor.
The other members of the Board are Dr Abena Nyarkoa Asomaning, Mr Daniel Amasah Kotey, Major (rtd) Ben Donkor, Mr David Theophilus Dominic Vondee, (MP) for Twifo-Atii Morkwaa in the Central Region and Mr Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, (MP, Pru West) in the Bono East Region.
The new Board has distinguished professionals with extensive experience in finance, insurance, public service and corporate governance.
They were sworn in Accra at the SIC Insurance PLC Nametei Head Office in Accra by Justice Afi Agbanu Kudonor, a High Court Judge in Accra.
The new board Chair, speaking on behalf of the new team, said he was humbled by their appointment and assured President John Dramani Mahama, shareholders and the people of Ghana of their highest commitment to ensuring that SIC Insurance PLC experiences growth in market share and profitability during the tenure of the new board.
The Acting Managing Director, Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, who was also formally appointed by the Board as the Managing Director on his part, said “this transition marks an important step in SIC PLC’s journey to regain market leadership.”
The incoming Board, he emphasised, brings renewed vision and strong governance that will further strengthen our performance and ensure that we continue to serve the needs of our clients, shareholders and the nation at large.
SIC Insurance PLC is one of the oldest non-life insurance companies in Ghana. It traces its roots to the year 1955, when the Gold Coast Insurance Company was established.
It was renamed Ghana Insurance Company in 1957, when Ghana attained independence.
