Ghana must urgently adopt modern agricultural technologies to increase cocoa production, an Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Cape Coast, Prof. Ransford Opoku Darko has advocated.
He noted that the country’s current average yield of 400 kilogrammes per hectare could more than double to over 1,000 kg per hectare with the deployment of innovation and appropriate tools.
In an exclusive interview with The Ghanaian Times, Prof. Darko said the time had come for government and stakeholders to adopt a comprehensive approach to revitalising the cocoa sector-one that integrates technology, strong governance, effective monitoring, and the right expertise to unlock the industry’s full potential.
