The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) plans to expand the use of technology to strengthen revenue collection.

The Authority says the recently launched Advance Passenger Information system in the aviation sector will be used to track goods carried by passengers to ensure appropriate taxes are paid.

Commissioner-General Anthony Sarpong added that by the end of the year, the GRA will roll out an Advance Cargo Information system to monitor cargo inflows.

He made the disclosure at the 2025 Annual International Tax Conference.

“The President launched at the airport the Integrated center to manage aviation travels. Within this project is the Advance Passenger Information. So if you traveled for example with one bag and you are coming with five bags, before your flight takes off from where it is coming from to Ghana, we will know. If you have goods coming in, you properly disclose and pay the rightful tax. Before end of the year, we are going to implement the advance cargo information. This is a replica of the advance passenger information for the sea port,” Anthony Sarpong said.
