The rapper and actor, 50, plays the lovable wish-granting blue being in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of the 1992 classic, and audience members at Thursday’s CinemaCon got an extended sneak peek at Smith’s take on the character.

According to people in the audience, Smith’s Genie will not just be singing, he’ll also be freestyle rapping in the movie. The moment reportedly comes during his introductory song “Friend Like Me.”

“Robin Williams infused the character with a timeless version of himself, so I said to myself, ‘What if I just infuse the character with a timeless version of myself?’” Smith told EW back in December for the magazine’s exclusive first look at the film. “I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different and just the flavor of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane versus trying to compete,” he added.

Smith helped launch the first full trailer and also revealed that he got an early look at the finished film — and he’s pumped for fans to see it.

“I just saw the Finished version of #Aladdin!! IT IS FIRE ???? I AM HYPED!!! I can’t wait for y’all to see it. But, for now… Here’s the full trailer!” Smith wrote in on Instagram with a photo of himself as Genie.

For the remake, directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes), the fictional city of Agrabah will be created from global influences, including the Middle East, India and even China. Not only will the 1992 animated movie be a major influence, but Ritchie’s film will also draw from the classic folktales in Arabian Nights.

Disney’s Aladdin flies into theaters on May 24.
